About My Clients
Change is always hard but often necessary and attainable with the appropriate guidance and tools. My clients come from all backgrounds and statuses, but what they do have in common is pain and a goal and hope of overcoming it. I work best with clients who are motivated, curious, and seek therapy on their own so they are ready to apply themselves outside of therapy.
My Background and Approach
For years I questioned traditional mental health modalities & techniques. I searched to find more effective ways to help people from underrepresented, historically excluded, underserved, disadvantaged, & systemically oppressed communities. All of whom sustained traumas of so many types, & many of whom did not benefit from traditional psychotherapy approaches. Some were, in fact, hurt even more from it. I’ve been licensed as a LPC since 2008 & have worked in hospital-based inpatient & outpatient facilities, advocacy centers, & have been in private practice since 2011. I’ve spoken at retreats, hosted & presented at events, led groups, taught as a professor in college. My passion & specialty is trauma-informed treatments from a decolonized & justice-oriented lens. Techniques include: Polyvagal, EMDR, IFS, narrative, Somatic, sensory, & Spiritual modalities for healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We all have a story that often goes further back than ourselves. I am an Asian immigrant whose family escaped from a war- torn country. I’ve been a stay at home mom. I am divorced & am a single parent. I’ve experienced loss, joy, success, failure. I’ve hurt. I’ve healed. I’m continuing to heal & grow. I want to help clients navigate through their pain, make sense of who they are, & piece together fragments of themselves in order to feel whole again.
