About My Clients
I specialize in working with folks who are feeling disconnected from the life they’ve created. You may be feeling burnt out, with little time for self-care because you're so busy being there for others. This stress is impacting your self-confidence, and is causing you to be your own worst critic. It's interfering with your ability to communicate about your struggles because you've convinced yourself no one will understand you. If this is feeling all too real, then it's the right time to connect!
My Background and Approach
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I believe that we are a product of our environments, and our identities are molded by our life experiences. Our greatest triumphs and deepest traumas all shape who we become. Together, we will work to understand how your past impacts your present, and find new ways to deal with stress in order to nurture a brighter future. I utilize multiple therapy models, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy, to help you hush that inner critic, build up your confidence, and work towards living the life you deserve. I am also trained in EMDR for those ready to process traumatic experiences and move forward in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Black woman who is also a first-generation American, I am deeply passionate about working with Black women, women of color, adult children of immigrants, and folks belonging to other marginalized communities. Ultimately, I hope my practice can provide a safe space for those who otherwise are not given enough opportunities to talk about difficult subjects, like their mental health. My therapeutic approach is grounded in a systemic framework, meaning I believe our mental health is a symptom of our interactions with others and the world around us, including living within a capitalistic, patriarchal, White supremacist society.
