About My Clients
Are you full of anxiety but hiding it pretty well? Women I work with are often struggling with people pleasing and perfectionism. You might be dealing with a toxic workplace or toxic relationship and feel like you're about to lose it. You may be questioning the direction life is headed but have sleep problems, upsetting thoughts and feel exhausted a lot. You may notice yourself misusing substances or caretaking others or working too much. You can get help now and make changes.
My Background and Approach
I help women make sustainable changes to make life better. If what you want is an active listener who has suggestions based on decades of personal and professional experience, that's me. If you want very specific homework, I can provide that, too. I help clients develop better coping skills for daily life. Frequently I work with women through workbooks on mood issues, anxiety, PTSD recovery and ADHD. Wise Woman Therapy is my one woman show. I am it. You will not deal with any office politics or red tape. I have a sliding fee scale for those who need it and I can refer people to lower cost options when needed. I want you to get the help you need. I will help you work sharpening your decision-making skills for yourself, a week at a time. At the end of every session I ask you to choose a commitment to yourself for the week and I will check in with you the next week about if you kept your promise to yourself. This is how you learn about setting realistic personal goals for yourself.
Why I am a Good Fit for You
Only you will be able to decide if I am a good fit for you, but some of the back story might help. I do what I do because it was a therapist and circles of other very colorful characters who saved my life. The individual therapy was critical. The support from groups kept it going. You see, my life was heavily impacted by other people's use of alcohol and drugs. For me it was Al-Anon-the family and friends group that is an offshoot of Alcoholics Anonymous, that helped me look at my own damage in ways that I could learn from and grow. Other people seemed to be experiencing what I was when I thought I was alone in all of it. Building an awesome crew of "ride or die" friends has also been critical for me. Living a life of recovery from everything is a lot of work but it's well worth it. Feel free to reach out for a free phone consult. I'd love to hear from you.
