My Background and Approach
My music therapy practice has focused on helping guide my clients' development of their ability to use music as a tool to support wellbeing. Few things can connect us to ourselves as well, speak to our deepest needs and desires, and provide us insight and relief. Music can engage almost every part of the brain simultaneously! It is a great resource for bringing us back to the present moment, identifying what we need in this moment, and helping provide for those needs. I also frequently use somatic tools for anxiety and emotion management.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that life is kind of a grand beautiful mess, and that we're all doing the best we can to navigate what is inherently an unknowable experience. I believe no person is better or worse than any other person; every person is handed a unique bag of resources and challenges. It's important to work with the dichotomy of accepting where we are right now while accepting that we can change, working within the truth of who we are to maximize our life satisfaction. I am personally a queer ADHD'er, neurodiversity-affirming, ex-Evangelical, ENM-affirming therapist whose constant companion throughout life has been anxiety. I've learned to work with my anxiety over the years and have developed a wide variety of tools that can help you too.
