About My Clients
Are you a first-generation child of immigrant parents and find yourself conflicted with expectations set by your parents versus what you want to do? Are you a parent or caregiver and keep feeling like you need to do more or wish you would've done things differently? Together we can explore what is coming up for you, while at the same time prioritizing what is valuable to you.
My Background and Approach
I always say nothing happens in isolation, and that is why I am passionate about supporting folks through a holistic approach, to make sure we are taking care of the whole you. I am a U.S. born Salvadoran, born and raised in Houston, TX. Growing up I saw how much effort my parents put into taking care of us and also the many barriers my family faced in accessing care. This taught me to never make assumptions or to believe stereotypes about my community. One often being that we don't value mental health, when in reality, communities like mine do value care, this often shows up as being present for one another during challenging times. My experiences led me to work with children with disabilities, parents and caregivers, undocumented immigrant children and adults, with a special focus on generational trauma but also generational healing. My approach is to treat you as the expert, while we together work on ways to make being human a bit easier.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about social justice and liberation, this to me means understanding the intersection of struggles globally and how they impact us. In my life outside of work, I am 100% dedicated to advocacy and working towards ending all forms of oppression. I believe therapy is an amazing tool but change outside of the therapy space is also needed. All people and all communities deserve freedom to exist.
