About My Clients

You've become so tired of feeling so stuck so much of the time. You wish for a break, for things to be a little bit easier, because it seems like no matter how hard you run you just can't keep up. I can be with you, help you come to peace with yourself so that your days don't feel like battles with yourself. Even if therapy hasn't worked for you in the past, give me a try. Let's see if we can learn from those experiences and find a way that matches you better.

My Background and Approach

I've been working at a community agency for the last 2 years and I'm currently branching into my private practice. I have worked with all sorts of different types of people, with lots of different problems in their life, including people with experiences with CPTSD, PTSD, ADHD, autism, and histories with domestic violence. I work with individuals, couples, and small families, because I believe distress effects everyone around us, and lots of times changing how our relationships are helps out everyone involved. I look at the patterns that trap you and see how they can be changed. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is all about helping people get in touch with their values and figure out how to meet the struggles of life more flexibly. I also pull in other therapeutic types, because they all have different windows on people, and sometimes perspective changes help a lot. I tend to think in terms of parts and will naturally bring in parts work if you're interested.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My primary value is respect for the humanity of every person I meet. I believe that we're all just stumbling through a really hard world without anywhere near enough lights showing the path. I believe every person strives toward the light, although some may be so buried in pain they don't have much ability to change. In my clinical work, I respect that change is really really really hard and I try to balance experimenting with change and taking risks with awareness that patterns that took a lifetime to build won't vanish in an instant. I try to be safe and nonjudgmental for everyone, and when I'm told that I caused pain by accident, I respect that, and do my best to make amends.
