About My Clients
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, who face unique stressors resulting from the biases ingrained in our culture. I also focus on men’s mental health issues, as men can be less likely to seek support due to difficulty expressing their emotions and outdated ideas about masculinity. My clients are often experiencing depression, anxiety, complex trauma, ADHD, relationship issues, family conflict, self-esteem challenges, life changes, social anxiety, and religious trauma.
My Background and Approach
I believe that in order to heal, we first have to understand the factors that led us to where we are. Our work together will explore the impact of developmental experiences on your current struggles. We will focus on identifying and processing your emotions and understanding how relationships have shaped your experiences. Ultimately, we will identify patterns of thought and behavior that aren't working for you and build new insights and skills to move you toward your goals. I hold master's degrees in Clinical Psychology and Social Psychology, and have been working with clients for three years.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
At some point in our lives, most of us will experience distress brought on by our jobs, financial concerns, conflict with friends and family, and feelings of uncertainty brought on by global events. Some problems have deeper roots, such as the family environment we grew up in, traumatic experiences across the lifespan, questions of personal identity and values, and psychological disorders that have gone undiagnosed. Whatever brings you to therapy, I will help you discover how it all fits together. My major clinical interests include LGBTQ+ mental health, men's mental health, ADHD, self-esteem, social anxiety, religious trauma, and the influence of social/environmental factors on mental health.
