People I work with are often overwhelmed with what is happening in their lives and feel they do not have the tools and/or the mental resources to get through these issues on their own. They may be dealing with anxiety or depression symptoms or both. People may also feel they are trying their best to be there for others, their work, or their education, and realize they are not showing up for themselves and their needs. I help people create boundaries in their lives and practice self-care.
My ideal client is someone who is wanting to make changes and appreciates a direct, but empathetic approach that will sometimes include humor. As a therapist, I will not give you advice but rather help you identify maladaptive patterns, coping skills, behaviors, etc. and work with you on changing those things that are a barrier to happiness and contentment. I believe my clients are their own experts and as such, believe they should drive their treatment and their goals.
Many of my clients have experienced chronic illness (including cancer, kidney disease), grief/loss, family conflict, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loss of routine &/or job, trauma, loss of identity. Developing safety & trust in therapy will be part of our initial work. Your vulnerabilities & uncertainties are welcome. *EMDR trained (August, 2022); EMDR trained- Advanced Level (June, 2024). *Certified Grief Educator: February, 2023 (David Kessler Training)

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
